'New Solution to Nuke Stalemate if NK Returns to Talks'

A Japanese daily says that if North Korea returns to the six-party nuclear talks, the other five members of the dialogue will implement a new comprehensive solution to the nuclear issue.

The Yomiuri Shimbun says the five nations --- including South Korea, the U.S., China, Japan and Russia --- are mulling a package deal that would denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, institute a peace agreement and provide the North with economic aid.

The paper said the offer will be proposed to lure Pyongyang’s return to the talks.

The new proposal is said to be in line with the 2005 six-way agreement in which North Korea vowed to abandon its nuclear weapons program and normalize ties with the U.S.
