'N.Korea Eases Rules on Tourists from US'

North Korean authorities have reportedly decided to allow year-round visits to the North by U.S. tourists.

A number of reports, including one issued by the Voice of America, quoted Asia Pacific Travel President Walter Keats as saying Friday that North Korea’s state-run Korea International Travel Company announced the decision late Thursday.

Since 2005, American tourists have only been allowed to travel to the communist state during the special Arirang synchronized gymnastics performance period, which falls in August and September.

However, despite its recent decision, the North will reportedly continue to limit American tourists’ stays in the North to no longer than five days and will only allow Americans to enter the North through flights departing from Beijing.
