Japan's NHK says South Korea and Japan have agreed to discuss ways to tackle the problem of Korean trash flowing to the Japanese coast.

NHK said Tokyo will officially ask Seoul in working-level talks Wednesday to take steps to keep plastic containers used by Korean seaweed farmers from drifting into Japanese waters.

Some 12-thousand plastic containers believed to have originated from the Korean Peninsula were collected from Japanese coastal areas in the past winter.
