Korean Student Stabbed in Russia Recovering

The condition of the Korean student who was in a critical state after being stabbed by a masked assailant in Moscow Sunday has reportedly improved.

Hospital officials and the Korean embassy in Russia say the victim, identified by his surname Shim, is now recovering in intensive care after undergoing four hours of surgery at a municipal Moscow hospital.
Shim, a junior at a state-run film school in the Russian capital, was stabbed in the neck outside a downtown store.

The local police are attempting to locate the perpetrator based on witness testimony.

The police say the attack on Shim was most likely a hate crime committed by the same assailant who killed a Chinese citizen in the same area just one week prior.
