'Korean War Is the Longest US Engagement'

Newsweek says the Korean War is the longest among wars the U.S. has played an active role or be engaged in.

The magazine says the war has technically continued for 60 years because of the lack of a peace treaty.

About two million people were killed, including 37-thousand U.S. soldiers, in the war until the 1953 armistice was signed.

The magazine says the Vietnam War was the second-longest conflict the U.S. was engaged in at 128 months. The shortest was the 1991 war in the Persian Gulf, which lasted about six weeks.
