EP to Adopt Resolution Denouncing NK Attack

The European Parliament will adopt a resolution on North Korea in regards to the sinking of the South Korean warship "Cheonan" during its plenary assembly on Thursday.

The EP Secretariat expects a resolution denouncing North Korea's attack on the Cheonan to be presented on the last day of the parliament's June assembly, currently being held in Strasbourg, France.

EP members will discuss with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton on Wednesday the rising tension on the Korean Peninsula since the Cheonan incident and finalize the draft resolution.

The resolution is expected to denounce North Korea for its attack on the Cheonan, urge restraint from further provocations and emphasize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through the six-party talks.
