Probe Team Head : Sufficient Briefing Offered

The head of the joint military-civic probe team on the sinking of the “Cheonan” says that his team gave a sufficient briefing to all members of the U.N. Security Council (UNSC).

Following the briefing, the renowned scientist Yun Deok-yong told reporters that his team urged the UNSC to take appropriate action against North Korea’s provocation.

He declined to elaborate on the details of the briefing, saying that the UNSC meeting was closed to the public.

Yun added that member countries asked many technical questions in relation to the probe's findings.

He said that the UNSC did not discuss a letter sent by the Seoul-based civic organization People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy outlining its doubts about the probe results. The international investigation found North Korea responsible for the sinking of the South Korean naval vessel.
