European Parliament Adopts Resolution Denouncing NK Attack

The European Parliament has adopted a resolution condemning North Korea for its attack on the Cheonan naval ship.

Under the resolution that was passed during a plenary session in Strasbourg, France Thursday, the European Parliament denounced Pyongyang for the sinking of the South Korean ship and expressed support for Seoul’s move to refer the matter to the U.N. Security Council.

The resolution also said the European Parliament is disappointed with China and Russia for not issuing a clear stance on the naval incident and urged the two countries to thoroughly study the results of the Seoul-led, multinational probe into the ship’s sinking.

Earlier on Friday, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton denounced the North’s sinking of the Cheonan, saying the incident was alarming.
