Growing Number of Koreans Study in China

A growing number of Korean students are studying in China.

Education Ministry data show 29-thousand Korean students were in China in 2006. That figure grew to 66-thousand-800 last year.

The number of Koreans enrolled at Chinese universities and graduate schools doubled in four years to 29-thousand in 2009.

The number of Koreans who elected to study in the U.S. during the same period grew by only 12-thousand individuals to 69-thousand. Fifteen-thousand Koreans studied in Japan in 2006 with 18-thousand in 2009.

The Samsung Economic Research Institute says that China has invested heavily to raise the quality of its universities and continues to attract talented students from around the world.
