S.Korea Tops UN e-Gov't Survey

South Korea has won the inaugural United Nations Global E-Government Survey conducted on 192 countries.

The award ceremony was held during U.N. Public Service Day celebrations held in Barcelona, Spain.

South Korea was praised for consolidating some two-thousand administration systems in areas including fiscal monitoring and taxes.

Accepting the award, Public Administration and Security Minister Maeng Hyung-kyu said that global demand for Korea's e-government system will rise sharply and Korean IT exports will also increase.

The Seoul city government will also lead efforts to develop an international e-government standard.
