The South Korean Consulate General in New York has held a commemorative event for Korean War veterans living in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

It is to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean War.

The event featured clips of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir, which was one of the fiercest armed conflicts of the Korean War. A videotaped message from President Lee Myung-bak was also played. Lee acknowledged the sacrifice of the U.S. forces who fought in the Korean War and expressed his gratitude to them.

At the event, some 150 Korean War veterans and about 30 ethnic Koreans who also fought in the war attended. Also present were New York City officials, including New York City Comptroller John Liu and the Mayor's Office of Veterans' Affairs (MOVA) Commissioner, Roger Newman.
