Member nations of the Group of Eight (G-8) bloc of industrial nations meeting in Canada will likely adopt a statement condemning North Korea for its attack on South Korea’s “Cheonan” naval warship.

According to a draft summit statement seen by the German Press Agency dpa, the leaders of the G-8 nations strongly condemn the North’s attack on the Cheonan. The statement also remarks that such a provocation is a challenge to international peace and stability.

The text is also reported to urge North Korea to cease all hostile actions against its neighbors and respect its international obligations.

However, the news agency says it is unknown whether the draft will have the support of all eight nations, or if the final statement's wording will be toned down.
