Obama Urges China to Accept Cheonan Probe Results

U.S. President Barack Obama has reportedly urged China to accept the results of a probe on the sinking of South Korea’s “Cheonan” naval ship. The probe implicates North Korea in the sinking.

Obama said Sunday after the end of the Group of 20 summit in Toronto that he thinks there's a difference between restraint and willful blindness in regards to Beijing’s lack of addressing provocative acts by North Korea.

Obama said it is his hope that Chinese President Hu Jintao will recognize that the Cheonan incident is an example of Pyongyang going over the line in ways that have to be spoken about seriously.

Obama added that the international community will continue to step up pressure against Pyongyang until the communist state makes a decision to follow a path that is consistent with international norms.
