A new U.N. Security Council report shows North Korea has been slapped with 36 sanctions from the U.S., Japan, Australia and the European Union since 2006, in addition to U.N.-instituted penalties.

The report shows that the U.S. has imposed financial sanctions on 13 North Korean business entities and four individuals, including the head of Tanchon Commercial Bank.

Sanctions against twelve North Korean companies and one North Korean individual have been imposed by Japan.

The EU, meanwhile, has sanctioned four North Korean businesses and 13 individuals, including North Korean leader Kim Jong-il’s brother-in-law Jang Song-thaek.

Australia has also placed sanctions of its own on nine North Korean businesses and one individual.
