S.Korean PRT Base in Afghanistan Attacked by Rockets

A South Korean Provincial Reconstruction Team base that is being built in Afghanistan was reportedly attacked by insurgents armed with rockets at 2:40 a.m. on Thursday, Korean time.

A diplomatic source said that four rocket rounds were fired, one of which fell inside the base that is under construction in Charikar in the Afghan province of Parwan. No casualties or damage to facilities have been reported.

An official from the Foreign Ministry in Seoul says that although nothing has been confirmed, the attackers are believed to be associated with the Taliban.
