The Korea Immigration Service has announced a plan to relax the requirements for Chinese tourist visas. The plan involves increasing the issuance of multiple-entry visas and introducing a so-called “double visa,” which may be used twice during a preset time period.
According to the plan, teachers at Chinese elementary and secondary schools, pension recipients, and graduates of prestigious universities will be eligible for multiple-entry visas. They will be permitted to use the visas without limit within a one-year window.
The immigration office is also likely to pursue a de facto automatic visa issuance system where families of Chinese citizens who hold single-entry visas will be exempted from submitting documentation when they apply for single-entry visas.
The tourism authorities of South Korea and China are also discussing lowering the minimum number of people required to be eligible for group visas from the current five to three.
