'Ex-NK Spy to Visit Japan'

A former North Korean agent living in South Korea is reportedly planning to visit Japan on July 20th.

The Tokyo Shimbun said that Kim Hyun-hee is planning to meet with the family of Megumi Yokota, who was abducted by North Korea in the 1970s.

Kim is a former agent who took part in the bombing of a Korean Air flight in 1987. She says that she was taught Japanese by Yokota while in training to become an agent in the North.

Kim was scheduled to visit Japan in May this year. But her visit has been delayed amid worsening inter-Korean relations on the heels of the sinking of the “Cheonan” naval vessel.
