The South Korean unit participating in U.N. peacekeeping efforts in Lebanon has marked the third anniversary of its dispatch.

The 350-strong Dongmyeong Unit is stationed in the southern city of Tyre on missions to suppress military insurgencies and to control weapons trafficking in accordance with an armistice between Israel and Lebanon.

The unit is also helping Lebanon overhaul ravaged areas by rebuilding damaged infrastructure and repairing schools.

As part of their mission, the South Korean forces treat patients and teach computer, taekwondo and farming skills to locals.

The Dongmyeong Unit is scheduled to return home later this year.
