Japan’s Foreign Ministry says it will not seek a meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Pak Ui-chun on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) that opens in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Friday.

The ministry said in a news conference in Hanoi on Tuesday that Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada has no intention to meet with Pak.

Previously, Japan’s Nihon Keizai Shimbun said that Tokyo had proposed that the foreign ministers of the two nations hold a meeting during the forum.
