Obama Issues Korean War Armistice Proclamation

U.S. President Barack Obama issued a proclamation on Tuesday to mark the 57th anniversary of the signing of the Korean War armistice.

While proclaiming July 27th as National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, Obama asked all Americans to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities that honor and give thanks to distinguished Korean War veterans.

He added that the U.S.-South Korea alliance is rooted in shared sacrifice, common values, mutual interest and respect, and that this partnership is vital to peace and stability in Asia and the world.

July 27th was designated National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day following the passage of the Korean War Veterans Recognition Act by the U.S. Congress one year ago.
