US Lawmaker Urges Revision of KORUS FTA

The chair of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee says the South Korea-U.S. free trade agreement must be revised to make the Korean market more accessible to U.S. exports, including beef and automobiles.

Representative Sander Levin said the Korean-U.S. trade deal cannot be ratified without improvements in market accessibility for U.S. products.

In a recent speech before members of the Communications Workers of America, Levin called on the U.S. government to work to revise the South Korea-U.S. trade agreement in a way that addresses what he called “trade imbalances with South Korea.”
