Micro-USB Picked as Charging Input Standard for Mobile Phones

All models of mobile phones produced worldwide from 2014 will be charged with micro-USB connectors.

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) said on Monday that the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) set the micro USB as an international standard for all mobile phones.

Accordingly, the KCC and the Radio Research Agency plan to adopt the connectors as the nation’s standard around end of November.

Domestic smartphones produced by Samsung and LG Electronics are already built with micro-USB connectors, while Apple's i-phones and non-smartphones use different connectors for charging.
