Seoul has installed a sculpture in the Han Riverside of the monster from the 2006 blockbuster Korean movie "The Host."
The division of the Seoul city government handling Han River projects unveiled on New Year's Day a three meter high, ten meter long replica of the monster that terrified Seoul citizens in the movie.
Officials said the sculpture installed between Mapo and Wonhyo Bridges on the Han Riverside is part of efforts to use the area as a colorful, dynamic venue.
People who pass by the sculpture and take a picture of it can participate in a contest for the "best photo shot with a monster" by filling out a form downloaded from blog.naver.com/hangangstory and sending it to the e-mail address notified on the blog.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will select four winners, including one for best pose and one for best angle.
The latest installment is one of many Seoul city projects centered on the Han River. The city says it will continue to discover cultural and tourist resources related to movies and TV drama series.
"The Host,” directed by Bong Joon-ho, drew ten million moviegoers in 2006.
