South Korea’s Im Jyoung-hwa will be awarded the silver medal in the women's 48-kilogram weightlifting event of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
 
The International Olympic Committee(IOC) announced on Friday that Chen Xiexia of China, who took home the gold in the event during the 2008 Games, was disqualified for violating antidoping rules.
 
Thirty-one-year-old Im, who was already bumped up from fourth to third place to secure the bronze after Sibel Özkan of Turkey lost her Olympic title in the event for doping, will now become the recipient of the silver medal.

During the 2008 games, Im came in fourth place even though she lifted the same 196 kilograms as third-place finisher Chen Wei-ling of Taiwan because she weighed slightly more than her Taiwanese rival.
