North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reportedly strongly criticized officials for their incompetence during a recent inspection of construction sites in the country's northeastern region.
The North's official Korean Central News Agency(KCNA) reported on Tuesday that Kim visited salmon farms, a shipyard, a hotel construction site and a machine factory in North Hamgyeong Province.
The KCNA said that during the inspection of a hydroelectric power station under construction in Orangchon, Kim lashed out at workers and officials for failing to complete the project for 17 years.
Kim said that he was enraged by the report that Cabinet officials did not inspect the site for years. He reportedly said that he is "speechless" to see the actual situation with his own eyes.
Kim then directed the Central Committee of the Workers' Party to oversee the project and ordered the completion of the construction by October tenth next year.
Kim also chastised workers for their "sloppy work" and "foot-dragging" during inspections of the construction sites of a resort and a hotel in the region.
