Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in New York on Friday to discuss the latest developments on North Korea.

The U.S. State Department said on Monday that Pompeo will also meet with Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the UN, and Japan's Permanent Representative to the UN Koro Bessho, as well as representatives from member countries of the UN Security Council.

Following the historic U.S.-North Korea summit in Singapore on June 12th, Pompeo is leading the U.S.' talks with North Korea on denuclearization and the return of the remains of American soldiers killed in the Korean War. He made a third visit to the North early this month.

The department said that Pompeo will also hold a meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to discuss an extensive range of issues from the UN's organizational reform to this year's General Assembly slated for September.
