U.S. President Donald Trump says he's not in a rush to wrap up negotiations over North Korea’s denuclearization.

He made the remark in an interview with CBS on Monday before he sat down with Russian President Vladimir Putin for a bilateral summit in Helsinki.

Asked whether he thinks North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is moving quickly enough in implementing the agreements reached during last month's North Korea-U.S. summit, Trump said “this has been going on for many, many decades, but I'm in no real rush." He added that very positive things are happening behind the scenes.

In a later interview with Fox News, Trump said the U.S. is doing “well” with the North so they have time and “there’s no rush.”

Such remarks are raising speculation that he's tilting toward a phased approach toward the North’s denuclearization.
