Chinese media outlets have reported on the recent publication of an English language book detailing Japan’s wartime biological and chemical warfare research activities via its notorious Unit 731. 

Xinhua News said the book, “Unit 731: Laboratory of the Devil, Auschwitz of the East-Japanese Biological Warfare in China 1933-45,” was published in May by British publisher Fonthill Media. 

The two authors of the book are Yang Yanjun, director of the International Center for Unit 731 Research under Harbin Academy of Social Sciences, and Tan Rugian, professor of history at Macalester College in Minnesota. 

Yang said the book was released simultaneously in the U.K., the United States, and Canada, adding Korean and Japanese translations will be published soon.
