The Korea Foundation said Saturday it will host a program to promote Korean culture by inviting future cultural leaders from seven nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN.

The event titled "ASEAN Next-Generation Leaders Visit Korea Program" will host 12 guests for a week-long stay in South Korea from Sunday to next Saturday.

The list includes a Cambodian installation artist and a public relations official at the National Museum of the Philippines.

The guests will tour the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the National Museum of Korea, among many other venues, to deepen their understanding of Korean history, culture and society.

They will also meet related Korean officials to explore ideas for cultural cooperation.

The guests will visit South Korea's first ever multicultural theater troupe and discuss the efforts of the arts to overcome the cultural boundaries of immigrants.

Korea Foundation President Lee Si-hyung expressed hope that the program will help expand cultural cooperation between South Korea and ASEAN members.
