South Korea's Unification Ministry says North Korea handed over a South Korean citizen Tuesday morning.

A ministry official said the North repatriated the South Korean national via the Panmunjeom border village at 11 a.m. The 34-year-old is known by surname Suh.

In a message sent by the North Korean Red Cross Monday, Pyongyang informed Seoul that it will return a South Korean citizen who had illegally entered the North on July 22nd.

Seoul notified Pyongyang later Monday that it will take over responsibility of the individual.

The Unification Ministry said it positively assesses the North's repatriation was made on humanitarian grounds.
