South Korea and the United States have discussed cooperation measures on nuclear power.
According to Seoul’s Foreign Ministry on Friday, the second meeting of the High Level Bilateral Commission was held in Washington on Thursday, led by South Korea's Second Vice Foreign Minister Cho Hyun and U.S. Deputy Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette.
A consensus was reached on expanding cooperation on exporting nuclear reactors to a third country and follow-up discussions will be made on the issue through a working group under the commission.
Another working group affiliated with the commission has decided to pursue bilateral cooperation projects on nuclear security, including holding a workshop on global nuclear terrorism deterrence in South Korea next year.
The ministry said the two sides also decided to strengthen cooperation on nuclear safety and decommissioning within their respective nuclear policies and expand people-to-people exchanges.
