Domestic gasoline and diesel prices have risen for the seventh week, reaching the highest levels this year.

According to Opinet, a Web site on oil price information run by the Korea National Oil Corporation, the price of regular gasoline sold at gas stations nationwide rose by an average one-point-nine won to over one-thousand-618 won per liter in the third week of August.

It's the highest level since prices hit one-thousand-620 won at the end of 2014.

The price of diesel has also gone up one-point-nine won to over one-thousand-419 won per liter this week, again the highest so far this year and the highest since the last week of 2014.

The price of kerosene rose one-point-four won, selling at 946-point-three won.

Meanwhile, the National Oil Corporation said that global oil prices have dropped due to increased inventory in the U.S., but that domestic prices rose as a result of previous oil price surges.
