Amid signs of improving inter-Korean relations, President Moon Jae-in has reaffirmed his pursuit of strong military might.

President Moon on Friday attended the ceremonial launch of the Naval submarine, the "Dosan Ahn Chang-ho," on the southern island of Geoje.

He expressed congratulations for the construction of Korea's first three-thousand-ton submarine, stressing that "peace through power" remains the unwavering national security strategy.

While noting that he will travel to Pyongyang next week for his third summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Moon said a new path is being paved through bold imagination and peace is never automatically given.

Moon also called for airtight security and defense in the seas for peace on the Korean Peninsula.
