The Korea National Oil Corporation says domestic gasoline and diesel prices have risen by more than ten won per liter ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

The corporations website, Opinet, says regular gasoline sold nationwide cost more than one-thousand-640 won per liter on average in the third week of September.

It's the 12th straight week gas prices have risen since late June and to their highest levels since the end of 2014.

The National Oil Corporation says the increase is probably linked to a rise in global oil prices amid U.S. sanctions on Iran and expectations of eased trade tensions between the U.S. and China.
