Korean Stocks Plunge Amid Fears over Spread of Coronavirus

South Korea's main stock market plunged on Tuesday after the Lunar New Year break over worries regarding the outbreak of a strain of the coronavirus that originated in China and spread around the world. 

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) lost 69-point-41 points, or three-point-09 percent, on Tuesday. It ended the day at two-thousand-176-point-72.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also fell, losing 20-point-87 points, or three-point-04 percent, to close at 664-point-70.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened eight won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-176-point-seven won.
