U.S. President Donald Trump is facing a second impeachment after Democrats in the House of Representatives formally charged him with "incitement of insurrection" over the recent riot at Capitol Hill.
The Washington Post and other media outlets reported on Monday that House Democrats introduced an impeachment resolution citing "incitement of insurrection" against President Trump.
The resolution accuses Trump of encouraging his supporters to storm the Capitol building at a rally in which Trump alleged that November's presidential election was stolen from him.
Foreign media said the House could vote on impeachment as early as Wednesday.
House Democrats also introduced a resolution calling on Vice President Mike Pence to support removing Trump under the 25th Amendment.
A clause in the amendment, never before invoked, describes how members of the cabinet can agree to remove a president under extreme circumstances.
Trump is due to leave office next Wednesday, when Joe Biden will be sworn in as president.
