New data finds that it takes less than five years for a member of a conglomerate owner family to be promoted to an executive post after joining the family business.

Corporate assessment website, CEO Score, released on Wednesday results of its survey of 43 family business groups out of 64 firms designated as conglomerates by the Fair Trade Commission.

The website found that it took an average of four-point-eight years for a member of an owner family to become an executive. That’s around 18 years faster than typical employees.

The survey found that such people joined the business at the age of 29 on average.

The survey also found that it took an average of 14-point-one years for members of an owner family to become president or CEO, around 16 years faster than typical workers.
