President Moon Jae-in has stressed the importance of building trust in the COVID-19 vaccination process after receiving a briefing from the head of Korea Disease and Control Prevention Agency(KDCA).
According to presidential spokesperson Kang Min-seok on Friday, President Moon after the briefing said that maintaining trust in the process is most important by providing the public with detailed information.
Moon then asked KDCA Commissioner Jeong Eun-kyeong to assume full authority and command all related agencies so the entire vaccination process can proceed smoothly.
In her briefing, Jeong said that all available government assets will be mobilized to set up a steering team for the vaccination program and a cooperation system will be established with ministries for personnel support.
The disease control czar pledged thorough preparation through the training and drafting of clear guidelines. The vaccine rollout will consist of five stages: authorization of use, transport, storage and distribution, preparations for inoculation and execution.
