A cold snap gripped South Korea on Tuesday, with morning low temperatures plunging to around minus 15 degrees Celsius in inland and mountain areas.
Cold wave advisories are in place for the central region and inland areas of North Gyeongsang Province as temperatures plunged overnight.
Morning lows in the central region plunged by up to ten degrees from the previous day, with the mercury slipping to minus 15 degrees Celsius in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, and minus eleven in Seoul. The wind chill temperature in Seoul fell to minus 14-point-seven degrees.
Afternoon highs will be two to four degrees lower than Monday and hover around minus three to seven degrees, with minus two forecast in Seoul.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said the cold snap will let up on Wednesday afternoon, forecasting snow or rain on Thursday.
