S. Korea Reports 386 New COVID-19 Cases

South Korea reported 386 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, remaining in the 300 range for the second straight day. 

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said Tuesday that the new cases raised the country's accumulated caseload to 73-thousand-115.

The daily figure stayed in the 300s for two consecutive days for the first time in about eight weeks, showing signs that the third wave of the epidemic is slowing down.   

Of the new infections detected throughout Monday, 351 were local transmissions, while 35 were imported.

More than 240 cases came from the capital region, with 95 in Seoul, 128 in Gyeonggi Province and 18 in Incheon. In other parts of the nation, the southern port city of Busan added 17 cases, while Daegu reported 15 and Gwangju seven.

The number of critically ill patients is down by eight to 335, while 19 more coronavirus deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to one-thousand-283. The average fatality rate stands at one-point-75 percent.
