Moon Sends Congratulatory Letter to Biden, Hopes for Summit

President Moon Jae-in sent a letter of congratulations to U.S. President Joe Biden on his inauguration.

In congratulating Biden on Thursday, Moon noted how his message of harmony and reconstruction has resonated with the American people, before saying that he expects the new administration will achieve unity and prosperity.

Moon said he looks forward to Biden's leadership in tackling global issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change and the economic crisis.

Pledging to walk alongside the Biden administration as a major ally and trustworthy partner, Moon called for robust coordination to further solidify the alliance and for peace and prosperity on the Korean Peninsula.

The South Korean leader also expressed his hope to meet with Biden in the near future for summit talks.
