President Moon Jae-in has said the scope of and eligibility for the government's fourth round of COVID-19 relief payments should be expanded as much as possible compared to previous rounds.

At a meeting with the ruling Democratic Party(DP) leadership, including party chair Lee Nak-yon, on Friday, Moon said the damage from the prolonged pandemic has become more extensive and intense.

As for the reported differences on the relief payment method between the ruling party and the government, the president said his administration will actively cooperate in drawing up a program that aims to not leave anyone out.

Moon also asked the party to take into account the government's financial situation.

Vowing to help the party and the government reach an agreement, the DP leader proposed giving out universal relief aimed at encouraging domestic spending once the virus situation stabilizes.
