U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will reportedly visit South Korea in mid-March.

According to a diplomatic source, coordination is under way between South Korea and the U.S. for the top officials' two-day trip to Seoul on March 17.

The two sides are reportedly considering a "two-plus-two" dialogue with Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong and Defense Minister Suh Wook after individual talks with the officials.

The meetings will likely address North Korea policy as well as South Korea-U.S. alliance issues and the transfer of wartime operational control from Washington to Seoul.

Blinken and Austin will reportedly travel to Japan before visiting South Korea.

Japan's Kyodo News on Thursday quoted Japanese government officials as saying that Tokyo and Washington are making arrangements for the two secretaries' visit to Japan from March 15 to 17.
