Actress Youn Yuh-jung has been nominated for best supporting actress at the Academy Awards for her role in "Minari," becoming the first South Korean actress to garner the nomination.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Monday unveiled its final list of nominations for the 93rd Academy Awards.

The 73-year-old Youn became the first South Korean actress to be nominated in an acting category of one of the world's most coveted film awards.

Youn, who plays an eccentric grandmother in "Minari," will vie for the prize with four others, including Glenn Close in "Hillbilly Elegy" and Olivia Colman in "The Father."

"Minari," a film about a Korean immigrant family in search of the American dream in the 1980s, was nominated in six categories - best picture, best directing, best original screenplay, best actor, best supporting actress and best score.

The awards ceremony will take place on April 25.
