The UN has assessed that North Korea is continuing to advance its technology related to nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

The assessment was made in a report released on Wednesday by a panel of experts under the UN Security Council Sanctions Committee on North Korea.

The report said a member nation stated that the uranium enrichment facility in Yongbyon was in operation. Plumes of steam were observed at the uranium dioxide production process building in the complex.

The report quoted several member states as saying that the warhead capacity of its new intercontinental ballistic missile(ICBM) appears to have increased, either to accommodate a larger payload or deploy multiple reentry vehicles.

The report assessed that following the example of the Hwasong-15, which the North unveiled last October, this new ICBM can reach the whole of Europe and the United States, but with a more threatening payload.
