South Korea is expected to see scorching weather on Thursday, with major cities and coastal areas experiencing tropical nights.
The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) said Thursday that Seoul and other major cities, coastal areas and Jeju Island saw a tropical night overnight, which occurs when nighttime temperatures do not fall under 25 degrees Celsius.
Afternoon highs are forecast to rise to around 35 degrees Celsius on Thursday, with heat wave warnings issued for most parts of the nation.
The mercury is expected to rise above 38 degrees in some western inland areas.
The weather agency said the sizzling weather is likely to continue into the weekend, advising people to refrain from outdoor activities during daytime.
