S. Korea, Vietnam Hold Defense Strategy Talks

The vice defense ministers of South Korea and Vietnam held talks on Thursday to discuss regional security and defense cooperation. 

According to Seoul's Defense Ministry, Vice Defense Minister Park Jae-min and his Vietnamese counterpart, Hoang Xuan Chien, held the Defense Strategy Dialogue in Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to enhance defense cooperation such as exchanges of high-level officials, maritime security and exchanges in military education. 

They also agreed to continue efforts for cooperation in the defense and arms industry.

In addition, the two sides agreed to closely cooperate to ensure the defense exchanges will contribute to upgrading the current strategic cooperative partnership between the two nations to a higher level.  

During the meeting, Vice Minister Park called for Vietnam's active support and cooperation for Seoul's efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula, and the Vietnamese vice minister vowed his country's support.
