Nearly 94 percent of eligible recipients for the latest round of COVID-19 relief payouts have received the funds in the 19 days since the rollout began.

According to the Interior Ministry, over 40 million people have applied and ten-point-one trillion won has been paid out through Friday, accounting for 93-point-eight percent of those eligible and 78-point-five percent of the entire population.

The payout this time is 250-thousand won per person for the bottom 88 percent income earners.

Close to 340-thousand claims have been filed so far from those who were deemed ineligible for the relief funds. Most of them cited changes to their health insurance premium or composition of family members. 

The application deadline is October 29.
