The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also rose, gaining zero-point-29 points, or zero-point-04 percent, to close at 788-point-89.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency strengthened 22-point-four won against the U.S. dollar, closing the day at one-thousand-301-point-eight won.
