Buckingham Palace has announced the state visit of President Yoon Suk Yeol and First Lady Kim Keon-hee to the United Kingdom in November.
In a statement on Tuesday, the palace said the South Korean president has accepted an invitation from King Charles III to make a state visit in November, accompanied by the first lady, to be hosted by King and Queen Camilla at Buckingham Palace.
The palace mentioned a previous encounter between Yoon and the King at a reception for heads of state and official overseas guests at the palace last September on the evening before the state funeral for the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Following the tragic Itaewon crowd crush last October, the King sent a message of condolence to the president.
During former President Roh Moo-hyun's state visit in 2004, King Charles III, then the Prince of Wales, had joined a state banquet hosted by the late Queen.
He had earlier visited South Korea in November of 1992 as prince.
